Fynn Moran-Mcseveny On Wednesday September 14, Maclean High School hosted a skate competition, with sponsors from Nan and Pop Skate Boutique, Melon Skateboards, Truck Stop Skate Shop, Revival Yamba and the Clarence Valley Council. Tensions were high and kids were popping tricks left and right. It was a successful day, with no one getting seriously injured and everyone had a good time, just skating around with some friendly competition between each other. First up were the Under 14s, with Jimmy Schaeffer taking 4th place, Zephyr Skipper coming in 3rd, Chad Bradley in 2nd and Oscar Berry coming in 1st place with his pumping airs. The girls open division had Zara Tabor in 3rd, 2nd was Gracie Donsworth and Molly Deakin in 1st place, with her back 50-50 grinds on the quarter. The opens’ heats had Angus Kelly taking 4th spot, Mitchel Roberts in 3rd, Thomas Gordon 2nd and Billy Bradley in 1st, with his insane grinds. Angus Kelly won the best trick competition with a front side nose grind down the hubba. I would like to thank Maclean High School, Isaac from Nan and Pop, and Tony and Dylan from Truck Stop Skate Shop for putting this awesome day together – it will be even better next year.
