Palm Lake Golf

It was a sombre day at Yamba as a stalwart of the Palm Lake golfers had his last official game with us. Dennis Burton is moving to Ballina at the end of the month and after years in various roles on the committee, went out with flying colours in his last game. A Grade was won by Al Burke with 21 points on a count back from Peter Jarman (why did he 3 putt from 6 feet on the last) and Dennis Burton had a farewell 20 for 3rd. In B Grade Chris Sharp had an 18 to take the money from Ann Ardin 16 and Wendy Turner on 14. We had one Match Play which went to an extra hole and saw Tony Turner prevail over Terry Wilson 1 up after 10. This completes all rounds to the quarter finals, which need to be played by September 29. NTP on the 12th saw Neil Franey take the Sassafras voucher with a splendid birdie with Ann Ardin winning the Yamba Barber Shop haircut. On the 17th Peter Jarman took home the Bean Scene voucher and Ann Ardin the Yamba Pro Shop voucher. The farewell lunch for Dennis was attended by over 20 well wishers and we are sure that there will be some Yamba – Ballina challenges in the not too distant future. Meanwhile, if there are any golfers out there wanting 9 holes of social golf on a Tuesday morning, simply be at the course before 8am ready to hit off and we will certainly find you a spot.
