Osprey RSL Day Club

I have had such a big weekend in my sadly neglected garden that I almost forgot to put pen to paper; well fingers to the keyboard to be more accurate. It seems to get a little harder each year to keep on top of it all, but it’s a labour of love, so rewarding and a wonderful hobby. At the moment I am trying to strike Col’s beautiful hibiscus from the stems of the flowers he has been bringing in to Osprey each week. Sadly Col says we have had the best of them for this year.

Last week Bev and I attended the Evans Head Day Club’s 10th birthday celebrations and it was good to see so many familiar faces from all the other clubs. They excelled themselves with fabulous table decorations based on the club colours, a delicious hot lunch including desert and birthday cake. There was also a group of singers to take us on a trip down memory lane and back again. We all joined in with the old love songs, patriotic renditions of Vera Lynn’s ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ and even good old ‘Mickey Mouse Club’ which was led by a lass who really was a Mousekateer. Bev presented badges and awards in her official capacity to complete the formalities of the day. It started me thinking about what we should be doing for our 20th anniversary next year. Can you believe that? 20 years. We must be doing something right.

This coming Friday Skye McKenney will be coming along to entertain us, so get your dancing shoes on, pop a Berrocca and be ready for some fun. Invite a friend along if you wish as it promises to be a great day.

June won the lucky door prize, and Cathie and Helena the $20 shopping vouchers.

Anyone wishing to join Osprey, or wishing to know more about our activities, costs and transport arrangements, please ring Leanne on 0413 101 518.
