Lynne Mowbray The Maclean and District Orchid Society Inc. held its annual exhibition at the Maclean Bowling Club on Friday and Saturday. Society member Helen Connolly said that this year’s event had 238 entries of orchids and flowers. “Numbers (of entries) were down this year, possibly due to members who have passed away and the unseasonal weather,” said Ms Connolly. “It was a good show, nevertheless.” Neil Campbell of Grafton won the Grand Champion trophy for his exotic species Cattleya/Laelia Alliance, orchid. Albert Irons of Maclean won the Reserve Champion, with his Dendrobium – “Burana Jade”. Maclean’s Helen Connolly won first prize in the novice section for her Dendrobium.
