Open Girls Soccer – Round 2

After a forfeit win against Woodenbong Central in round 1, the Maclean High School Open Girl’s football team travelled to Evans Head to play Evans River K-12 for the 2ndRound of the CHS knockout competition.  A dominant performance in the first half, secured the girls one goal which came through Kelsey Sheehan with a brilliant strike from inside the box. Evans River came out strong in the second half and looked threatening, but Shanyn Hammond and Anika Moran held solid in the central defence and denied Evans River on every attempt. Elaina Cormick was the player of the match and took total control of the midfield from start to finish. Her hard work was rewarded midway through the second half when she bagged the second goal of the match to make the score 2-Nil. Well done Maclean High girls. They have a home match in Round 3 against Rivers College on Monday May 14.
