Nymboida volunteers and community members came together on Saturday morning for the official launch of the community Tool Library, which it is hoped will become a wonderful community asset, for years to come. Young, 20-month-old Maisy Welham knew exactly what to do with this little hammer, during the official opening of the Nymboida Tool Library on Saturday.

Nymboida’s tool library officially opens

The Nymboida Tool Library held their official opening on Saturday morning at the Nymboida Canoe Centre and Recovery Hub site.

One of the Recovery Hub co-ordinator’s Georgia Foster Eyles said that she was happy with the amount of community members signing up on the day.

“The tool library sort of kicked off about three weeks after the fires (in November last year) with the donated tools which were available at the time,” Georgia said.

“Since then the tool library has grown to include a wide range of tools including generators, trailers, chain saws and leaf blower.

“We also had a whipper snipper and lawn mower which were donated by Grafton Power Tools.

“McGraths Electrical have tagged and tested the electrical equipment, which was an amazing service for us.

“The tool library has been really slow over the COVID period and so we’re really trying to pick it up again and get the community more involved and have them accessing what is here.

“We now have a tool inventory, so that people can see what’s here and they can come in and access what they need.

“Hopefully, this will be a wonderful community asset and resource, for years to come!

“The Tool Library will be open for loans and returns every Saturday from 9am to 11:30am.

“A huge thanks needs to be given to everyone who has donated items,” she said.
