North Coast Champions

The Maclean HS U14 boys cricket team are North Coast Champions in the National Bank Shield after comfortably accounting for Toormina High.

Captain Colby Vallette won the toss and elected to bat. Opening batsmen Thomas Gallagher (33) and Harvey McEwen (34) got Maclean off to a solid start. Handy contributions from Luke Lambert (24), Jackson Moss (26) and Alby Popko (28) ensured Maclean High posted a very respectable total of 197.

The Maclean High ‘spearhead’ bowling attack of Alby Popko, Joshua Johnson and Will McGrath-Moran bowled disciplined, tight lines and fielders maintained great pressure making it difficult for the Toormina batsmen to get a start. Harvey McEwen capped off his man of the match performance bagging 4 wickets for 4 runs off 4 overs. Toormina were bowled out 112 runs short of Maclean’s total.

Thomas Gallagher was player of the tournament amassing 354 in the four matches at an average of 118.
