Murder at the Maclean Bowlo
Members of Maclean Women’s Bowling Club held their Christmas party on Tuesday December 8 where they gave donations to the Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary.
The president, Margaret Stallard, thanked the secretary/manager, Mark Williams, and the office staff, Jo, Tamara and Donna, for all their help during the year. She also thanked Tracey and Mardi, representing L J Hooker, for the company’s sponsorship and they then thanked the ladies’ club for supporting the fund raising to help sufferers of cystic fibrosis.
The entertainment consisted of a Murder Mystery game, “T’was a Death Before Christmas”, with all the suspects acting their parts at intervals during the meal, generating much laughter. At the end the audience tried to work out who committed the crime.
The lucky raffle winners were M Ryan, S Keighran, P Barclay, L Connor, S Squires and C Carter. A number of people won bunches of beautiful Christmas bush donated by Gwen Parsons.
In conclusion, secretary Lee McKay thanked the social and executive committees for their help in organising the party, the actors, and the hospitality students who waited on the tables.
Members are reminded that bowls will resume with a social game on Thursday January 28. The Club Championship Pairs begins on Tuesday February 2 with entries closing on Tuesday January 19. The Major/Minor Fours Tournament is on Monday February 15, closing on Monday February 8. The Major Singles start on Tuesday February 23, closing on Tuesday January 19.
Finally, the ladies would like to thank the CV Independent for publishing the reports every week and wish the staff a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
