The 2015 bowling calendar at Yamba has reached its conclusion with the Presentation Dinner on Thursday evening. Nearly 100 members gathered at the club to celebrate the women’s, men’s and mixed championships and achievements. The night culminated with the announcement of the male and female bowlers of the year and the presentation of the inaugural Club President’s Award. Robyn McPherson made it two years in succession when she won the Female Bowler of the Year from Pam Conley in a closely contested competition. Competition for the Male Bowler of the Year was also incredibly close with the club’s five state finalists: Graham Meany, Bruce Angel, Alan Abbott, Allan Parker and Steve Kliendienst, all near the top of the order with Graham attempting to win the award for the third year. However, it was Martyn Wood who captured the title highlighting a fantastic year where he captured three club championships; Major Singles, Consistency Singles and Club Fours, and was runner up in three others. Social bowls continues with pairs played on Wednesday and triples on Friday (apart from Christmas Day). All games commence at 1pm and names need to be on the respective nomination sheets by 11.30am on the day of play. All nominations are guaranteed a game and visitors are most welcomed.
