Morning tea at Grafton Gallery with Kathy Butcher

You are invited to join the Gallery Friends for a free morning tea with guest speaker Kathy Butcher on Tuesday November 9 from 10am – 12 noon.

Kathy Butcher and family moved from Sydney to the Clarence Valley in 2003. She is a professional musician with over 35 years’ experience performing, teaching, running workshops and using music as therapy.  

She was the first female member of The Royal Australian Air Force Band based in Richmond NSW in 1986, playing flute and piccolo.  She completed her Master of Arts in Music Therapy in 1998 and is a Registered Music Therapist with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA). 

She has worked in private practice in a wide range of settings, from babies and families to the elderly, working with people and children of all ages with a variety of special needs.  She is also a session leader for a nationally funded Early Intervention Program, “Sing & Grow” which was established through Playgroup QLD in 2001. 

Kathy has just completed a 4-year term as secretary on the Executive Board of the Australian Music Therapy Association.  Kathy also has been operating local business Accent Hearing, with her husband Greg since 2011. 

She is a keen quilter, gardener and is very passionate about supporting and helping children through the unique qualities of live music interactions. 

The Friends of Grafton Gallery support the Grafton Regional Gallery and especially financially support the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award which is Grafton Regional Gallery’s flagship art prize through fund raising events and Membership subscriptions.
