Massive scores the order of the day for Yamba

One hundred and forty one golfers enjoyed Yamba’s perfect conditions on Thursday and with the golf course playing easy (for some) great scores were the order of the day. With more than 10 players returning 40 point or better the A Graders somehow struggled, with the winner Tim Arndell from Maclean returning 39 points, 2nd went to Barry Fisher with 38pts and 3rd was Graham Kulmar with 37pts on a c/b. A Reserve winner was Garry Payne with 40pts from Alan Warry with 38pts on a c/b from Peter Hall 38pts. B Grade is where the fun started, 45 points was what was required to take home the prize with Tony White doing it easy, r/up was John Ralph with 42pts on a c/b and 3rd went to Dale Pigram 42pts. C Grade wasn’t much better with Greg Cowan returning a massive 46pts with a wipe to take out the grade. 2nd went to Ross Wilson 42pts and 3rd was Martin Harris 40pts. NTPs: Scott Butler on the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 3rd at 370cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th was not won, the 10th SeaFire hole was Richard Beresford at 100cm, the Yamba Barber shop 12th was John Ralph 103cm, the 17th SeaFire hole was Greg Don at 328cm. Ball for the day went to 37 with 18 on the back. Saturday’s Stableford was much the same as Thursdays with A Grade winner Rohan Smiles winning with 38pts from Wayne Rice 37 and 3rd went to Michael Short 36 on a c/b. A Reserve winner was Nick Anderson with a great score of 44pts from Kash Robinson 42pts and 3rd went to Paul Edgar with 40pts on a c/b. Brian Groth was the winner in B Grade with 43pts from Col Cromack 41pts and 3rd saw the welcome return of Dave Schwarz back after a long spell with 38pts. C Grade went to Evan Harris with 39pts from Harold Roberts 37pts on a count back from Brian Dwyer 37pts. NTPs: Greg Don on the John Wright Pro shop 3rd at 387cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th was Greg Wyllie at 206cm, Greg Don also won the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 12th 175cm, the 17th Bene Scene hole was Ross Allomes 315cm and the 2nd shot 17th went to Ellis Gulliver at 440cm. Balls went to 35 with 17 on the back. Horne trophy retained Thirteen golfers travelled to Sawtell to contest this prestigious trophy on Saturday with Yamba absolutely flogging the locals winning their matches 6 nil giving us the Horne for another 12 months. Sundays Shuey Memorial Cup Fifty six players came out and contested this 2bbb event held in memory of one of our great members Paul Schumacher. The winners of the event were Allison Caller and Clayton Hope with 49pts, 2nd was the Wallace and Gromit team Sandra Wallace and Warren Hughes with 46pts and 3rd was the team of Glenda Smith and Steven Henwood 46pts. NTPs: Michael Shirlow and Barbara Moore on the SeaFire 3rd, the Kahbu Hair 9th was Clayton Hope and Robyn Brockwell, the Block Café 10th went to Phil Ramm and Jayne McCormack, the Sassafras Pizza and Pasta 12th was Bruce Lulham and Julie Campbell.
