Mareeba announces new Facility Manager

For Leanne Hancock, “seeing happy faces every day” is the most rewarding and motivating aspect of her work at Mareeba Aged Care in Maclean.

That’s why she was thrilled with her recent promotion to Facility Manager, where she will be able to oversee Mareeba’s day-to-day operations and continue to set excellent standards for residents and staff.

Leanne is a familiar face to many in the Mareeba family. She started at the facility as a registered nurse almost eight years ago and most recently held the role of Clinical Care Manager.

Company directors Steve Gordon and Sam Baker said Leanne was a natural fit for the Facility Manager role.

“Leanne is a valued and trusted employee here at Mareeba. She has a solid understanding of the facility, she’s respected by our team and the residents love her,” they said.

“We know she will be successful in this new role, and we look forward to working alongside her.”

Leanne thanked Steve and Sam for their support and encouragement, and said she wanted to make a difference and continue to uphold Mareeba’s strong reputation as a leading aged care provider.

“I’ll be working hard to ensure everyone is happy. I want to empower staff and make sure everything runs smoothly as we provide the very best care for our residents,” she said.

Leanne said anyone seeking a career change or a new job should consider the opportunities available at Mareeba. The aged care facility offers flexible work options, a family-friendly atmosphere and opportunities for development.

“Being an employee here at Mareeba is truly a rewarding experience; it’s a great place to work,” Leanne said.

“I love building relationships with our residents and my colleagues. For me, the best part of the job is coming to work and seeing everyone happy and smiling. It’s wonderful.”

The Directors paid tribute to outgoing Facility Manager Rachell Bennett, who was at Mareeba for 13 years, including a significant stint as the Director of Nursing.

“Rachel had an incredible caring and compassionate nature and was loved by both residents and staff. We wish her well in the next phase of her life”, they said.
