Last week members of the Maclean Manta Rays and Yamba Orcas participated in intensive squad swimming at the Maclean Olympic Swimming Pool. Michelle Irwin, pool manager and event organiser said the week was all about familiarising kids with the rules associated with competitive swimming and improving starts and turns in preparation for school swimming carnivals. At the end of the week Michelle ran a mini carnival to encourage swimmers to utilise newly learned skills in a competitive arena. Chris the coach and the swimmers, were certainly delighted with the results, as many swimmers clocked personal best times without being disqualified. Congratulations to Lily and Billy Johnson, Sam Earle, Layla Black, Toby Campbell and Jake Townsend. What a great way to begin the 2016 swimming season! The Manta Rays will meet this Friday night at 5:30pm sign on for a 6pm start to begin the 2016 season and we welcome new members.
