The Maclean VIEW Club’s luncheon on December 8 got off to a good start, with members getting into the Christmas spirit by dressing up in festive season colours, setting a great atmosphere. The tables looked splendid, with Christmas decorations created by our members, thank you to the ladies who did all that work. A delicious morning tea supplied by the members started the proceedings for the day. Just a small amount of business was attended to when a motion was passed to donate to the Learning for Life students, money which will fund school packs for the students to start the new school year off. The money for this and other projects is raised by our hard working members and other ladies in the community who work for our Learning for Life students, a huge thank you ladies for your commitment. A lot of fun was had when some of our ladies of dubious talent performed a skit to the tune of YMCA, giving the Village People’s version a huge shake-up. Rose Callaghan from the Uniting Church sang and played her guitar, Christmas carols to which we all joined in. We all really appreciated having Rose entertain us, helping to make our day a wonderful success. Elsie Balfour gave a vote of thanks to Rose on behalf of the members. Last but not certainly not least we thank the staff of the CV Independent for their support in publishing our news monthly, may we send to them our Christmas greetings and wishing them a prosperous New Year too, and looking forward to continued support for 2017. Our next meeting will be the 3rd Thursday in February 2017 (Thursday 16). Rosemary Rackham
