Maclean Men’s Golf
High scores have been the story last week at Maclean.
Thursday saw a count back required to determine the winner with newly returned member Peter Woldseth getting the nod over Rod Smith who both had a good day out & 40 Stableford points. NTPs were taken out by Theo Sheppard on the second, Alan Cope on the seventh, Iluka visitor Michael mason took the eleventh & Stephen Smith the seventeenth. Club balls went to 35 points.
Last Wednesday during the Skins Comp Barry Connelly was heard to say, “Is it really that easy, is that all there is to the game” or something like that I’m told, so on to Saturday & with the same mindset playing off 22 handicap he romps in with 48 Stableford points & plays to 10 handicap, maybe that should be his number from here on? Left in his wake with terrific scores of 40 points were Joel Power & Stephen Smith. NTPs went to Michael Endean on 2, Mark Williams on 7, Nev Cowling on 11, Peter Wild on 17 & Scott McNeilly won the Thistle hole. Club balls went to 33 points.
Next Saturday is the Medal of Medals play-off & will be sponsored by our PGA Professional Paul King. Apart from the usual trophy run down Paul is offering a couple of free lessons for the also rans, however there are a couple of players who are not eligible for this freeby. It is thought that one lesson may not be sufficient for Dickie or Mother. Preferred lies which have been on for the last few weeks because of the slicing of the fairways will be lifted for this event.
The raffle for the Juniors, the set of golf clubs & bag donated by the Beattie family has now opened & will be drawn before Christmas. Annual reports are currently being prepared so keep you eye on the mail over the next couple of weeks as our AGM has been brought forward to mid December.
Nominations for committee will start being accepted in two weeks time. Geoff Grayson
