Maclean Men’s Golf

Last Thursdays medley single Stableford attracted a big field of players with many visitors in attendance. Don Skaines continued his good form with a winning score of 40 points to edge out r/up Ross Allomes with 39. The NTPs went to Leigh Barrington on the 2nd at 0.41m; Mick Emmanuel the 7th at 3.52m; Noel Bushell took the 11th at 1.23m and Dave Bruton took the 17th at 0.43m. The pro-ball rundown went to 33 points on a c/b. Visitors were made welcome from Yamba, Hervey Bay, Grafton, Coolah, Tathra, Beacon Hills, Burleigh and Tally Valley. Saturdays event was also a medley single Stableford with excellent scores carded. Visitor Mark Phillips from the SGA Golf Club took the win with 43 points. John Parkes was close behind on 42 and was lamenting the fact that every time he plays golf on a Saturday he loses strokes from his handicap. Still plenty to spare by the look of his score. More great scores were recorded with three players on 40 points and five on 39 points. Dave Smith took the NTP on the 2nd at 1.31m; Bruce Johnston the 7th at 1.55m; John Porter the 11th at 1.97m and Graeme Roberts the 17th at 6.42m. Peter Fitzpatrick won the Thistle hole at 5.12m. The pro-ball rundown went to 34 points on a c/b. Visitors came from SGA, Yamba, Redcliffe and Woolgoolga. From Wednesday the practice putting green will be out of action for renovation so putting practice can be on either the 9th or 18th greens when free. Next Saturday is the Stroke monthly medal No. 11 kindly sponsored by Doug and Sandra Jenkins of Maclean Outdoors. Phil McGuire
