Wednesday afternoon Skins saw some terrific scoring. Richard Crawford-Ross was in top form taking five skins including a 5 pointer on the 8th hole. Close behind were Paul O’Halloran and Brian Williams with 4 skins each. Thursdays Single Stableford saw the highlights of the week with 2 holes in one on the tough 17th hole. Paul Moore was the first to put it in followed by Gregor Simpson later in the day. Gregor’s comment after hearing of Paul’s ace was that there was room for another one and proceeded to do just that. Fantastic shooting gentlemen. The days winner with a great 42 points was Robert Richards. Well done Bob. John Phillips also had 42 points but was beaten on a countback. John has been in terrific form of late and will be a strong contender in the championships. NTPs were taken by Stephen McKenzie from Yamba on the 2nd; Noel Allen from Grafton on the 7th; Geoffrey Dickinson the 11th; and Paul and Gregor shared the 17th. The pro ball rundown went to 34 points on a countback. Saturdays second round of the championships was generously sponsored by Jan and Robert Fuller. The winner in A-Grade was Paul Bamback (h/c 6) with a fine nett 68. The r/up was Hugh Saunders(7) with a nett 71. The B-Grade winner was Stephen Cameron (17) with a nett 70 followed by Gregory Dickinson (14) with a nett 72. The C-Grade winner was Mark Stowers (23) with a nett 70 and the r/up was Robert Richards(20) with a nett 72. The D-Grade winner was Paul O’Halloran(33) with a nett 74 followed by Chris Moorhead(27) with a 75 nett. Showing their accuracy the NTPs went to Greg Dickinson on the 2nd, Peter Fitzpatrick the 7th, Justin Menzies the 11th and Tony Johnson the 17th. The Thistle Hole on the 9th was taken by Mark Andrew. The pro-ball rundown went to 76 in A-Grade, 75 in B-Grade, 75 in C-Grade and 76 in D-Grade. Visitors came from Grafton, Yamba and Coolangatta Tweed Heads to enjoy the beautiful weather and the course in excellent condition. Sunday saw a group of 14 golfers travel to Coraki for their Open Day and the battle for the Montague Shield. Coraki managed to keep the shield but all enjoyed a fantastic day and the hospitality shown. Mark Andrews took out the nett event with a 69. Doug Hudson had the best 9 hole nett and Graeme Howard was the C grade nett runner-up. Next Saturday, the 21st, is the 3rd Stroke Round of the Club Championships and the 1st qualifying round of the Match Play Championships sponsored by Bob Harvey. It was good to see Dicky Parker back on deck and we wish him a speedy recovery. The club also sends condolences to the Johnson families on their recent loss. A reminder that the bridge will be closed again this Thursday from 9.30-2.30. Phil McGuire
