The final of the Club B Grade Singles was played last Sunday morning. The quality of the bowls played by both players was of a high standard and indeed better than some of the open singles witnessed. The match between Tom Cross and Ross Murphy was neck and neck with the scores level on a number of occasions. In the later stage of the match Ross draw away from Tom and eventually ran out the winner, he was just a little more consistent on the day. Congratulations to Ross and well done to Tom on making it to a great final. The quarter-finals of the Club Open Pairs was also played on Sunday morning. For full results of matches played in both Championships plus matches set down for future play. Pennants: What a difference a week makes. Last Saturday we were successful in all grades. The 5’s and 6’s both had a clean sweep gaining 10 points apiece. The 7’s won 9 – 1 and the 3’s won 8 – 2. This Saturday we have the No 3’s away against South Grafton; No 5’s at home against Grafton GDSC; No 6’s at home against South Grafton and the No 7’s away against Yamba. Nominations for this year’s Open Major Singles are now open. The closing date is Tuesday April 20. First matches on Sunday April 24. Nominations are also open for the Veteran’s Singles which close on April 29. The Mixed Pairs which close on Tuesday April 26 and Minor Pairs which close on Friday June 3. A reminder the travelling bowlers ‘The Cane Cutters’ will be having their next trip away to Alstonville Club this Thursday April 14. The bus departs our club at 10am on the day.
