Maclean Ladies Golf

Congratulations to Cathie Parker, Maclean Veterans Ladies Champion for 2015 and to Chris Forrester as runner up. Great effort girls. Today Maclean Ladies are playing the 27-hole Foursomes Championship which is sponsored by Hamilton, Simmons & Co. Last Wednesday, August 19, the ladies competition game was an 18-hole stroke for the 8th monthly medal. It was also our final WGNR Gwlad Murray round and was sponsored by Nancy Commerford. Nancy Phillips had a good day to win the Division 1 medal, the best gross and the o’all NTP on the 7th and 11th (which were sponsored by Playmore Golf at Yamba and Sue and John Fong Kee, respectively). Pauline Ryan, who also won the putting competition, was runner up. In Division 2 Cathie Parker won the medal, Sandra Youlten was runner up, Ros Jacobs had the best gross and Jill Schipp was NTP on the 17th. Club balls were awarded to Ros Jacobs, Di Moore, Helen Graney, Helen McFarlane, Cathy Ayres, S Mulligan (visiting us for the day) and Jill Schipp. Joy Studdon was the winner of the Division 2 Best Nine ball. Birthdays celebrated during the week were Helen Graney on Wednesday, Mary Wiseman on Friday and Chris Forrester on Saturday. Maclean Ladies annual Two Day Open Tournament is fast approaching being held on Monday and Tuesday, September 14 and 15. Closing date is Friday, September 4. We hope to have another successful tournament and look forward to seeing our golfing friends from near and far enjoying the event. A slight change of format for this year with Monday being a Two Person Ambrose and Tuesday a single stableford in Divisions. There are some novelty events planned as well. Lady Golfers visiting the Clarence Valley are more than welcome to join in the fun. Just contact the Pro-shop the get your name down on the sheet. Next Wednesday, September 2, Maclean ladies will play an 18-hole v Par for Club trophies. Jenny Apps
