Maclean High School annual swimming championships

cvi   Wednesday February 3 On Wednesday, February 3 Maclean High School held a very successful swimming carnival at Maclean Pool. The highlight of the day was the tremendous turnout for the early morning races for the 200m Freestyle and the Individual Medley. Thirty students arrived at the pool at 7.30am ready to compete in the drizzling rain. As the day progressed the sun shone. Well done to the many staff and students who dressed up for the Hawaiian theme and the ever popular ‘all-in-scramble’ where all students complete as many laps as possible in a short time period. This year a massive 2,121 laps were swum in the ‘all-in-scramble.’ Congratulations to the age champions for 2016: 12yrs Ella Bowly, Clarence Skelton; 13yrs Zahri Berry, Jay Adams; 14yrs Montana Dobbin, Jordan Elabbasi; 15yrs Alexandra Anderson-Bylos, Max Gilbert; 16yrs Bronte Beresford, Rory Frazer; 17+yrs Isabella Gilbert, Jack Leonard. Congratulations to Gordon, the 2016 Champion House with 486 points, 2nd Kendall followed by Paterson and Lawson. A school carnival cannot be successful without the help of many people. Special thanks to the parents who helped with the distance events at 7.30am and the Maclean Pool staff. Pics: Lynne Mowbray
