There were no Club Championships played last week. The next Championship for play will begin on Saturday August 26 with the first round of the Club Mixed Handicap Singles. Details of games will be printed in the report next time. The draw has been made and individual handicaps will be allotted this week. Six of our more achieved bowlers, who this year won their sections of the District Championships’, will be vying for Zone honours, this Sunday at East Lismore Club. They are Singles winners Warren McDonald (State Open) and Doug Starr (Seniors). Steve Jackson & Brad Johnson are in the Open Pairs and Steve Fuller & Garry Montgomery the Presidents Reserve Pairs. We wish them all well. Bowlers there are numerous bowler groups both men and mixed due to visit our club in the near future. The first of these is a mixed visit from the Manly-Brisbane War Veterans (mixed) this Sunday August 20. Then followed by a visit from Park Beach Club (mixed) the following Sundayand then the Ballina RSL ‘Sand-flies’(men) on Sunday September 3 with more to come later. Sheets for player’s names against them are on the noticeboard. Please assist by putting your name down to play. Between 2pm and 4pm on Sundays, the club is running bare-foot bowls on a weekly basis to attract new bowlers to our club. For the price of only five dollars anyone can come and be introduced to our great game. Visitors to our area are always very welcome to our Club and to sample our renowned hospitality. Perhaps participate in a friendly game of social bowls. Men play on Wednesday and Friday afternoons and Ladies on Tuesday mornings. Both team and single nominations are accepted. Dress is mufti.
