Pacific Valley Christian School

It has been wonderful to welcome all of our students back for the commencement of Term Three. I have once again been encouraged to see our students quickly settling back into their positive learning routines. Please pray for our Year 11 and 12 students who are in the midst of substantial assessment task deadlines and increasing pressure as they prepare for both their trial and actual HSC exams.

Term Three has started with a host of events where we saw some of our Junior School students visiting the Whiddon aged care facility on Monday of the first week of this Term followed by sending a team of more than 40 athletes to the Zone Athletics Carnival on the Tuesday. It was great to hear how well our students participated and represented the school at both events. I would like to thank Mr Stubbs, Mrs Nichols and Mrs Hackfath for taking our students down to the Zone Athletics Carnival. I was very thankful to hear about our students being a blessing at Whiddon and that seventeen of our students have been successful in qualifying for the State Athletics Carnival which will be held in Sydney later this month.

During the school holidays, all of our families should have received, in the post, the mid-year reports for their children. If these have not arrived, please contact the school office so that we can arrange to resend the reports. It was wonderful to see so many parents coming in on Tuesdaynight to discuss the learning progress of their children.  If you were unable to make the evening please contact the school office and staff will arrange to get in touch and speak with you.

During last week, we have had our Board Meeting for Term Three.  It was lovely to have Dr Boyce, Dr Lamont, Mr Maddock and Mr Baldry join with our local members to pray, discuss and plan for the ongoing growth and development of Pacific Valley Christian School and Valley Hope School. We are obviously very pleased that the Science Building project has completed its tendering process and has in fact commenced the building phase. The additional learning spaces that are part of this project will cater for the increased classes that will be needed in both schools for 2018.

The next events occurring for our school community are two HSC showcases. The first is on Friday the 4th August for our Stage 6 Drama students. The evening is commencing at 7:30 and is an opportunity for our students to present their performances to the school community. The second is our HSC Music showcase which is occurring on Wednesday the 9th August at the Yamba Golf Club. I am looking forward to seeing many of our families at these evenings.  Please come along and enjoy celebrating the talents and abilities of our students together. If you have any questions about upcoming events please do not hesitate to contact the office.
