Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary receives $500 donation
The Nurse Manager at Maclean District Hospital attended the recent meeting of the Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary and said how impressed she was with the Mothers’ Day morning tea and thanked the auxiliary for all their work.
She also referred to the problem of finding a suitable landing place for the new helicopter.
Kaye Anderson reported on the future donation of a boat which the Men’s Shed is working on. A letter was received from the hospital stating that they have ordered the lymphoedema machine that they had requested.
The Iluka Woombah Rotary Club donated $500 which the president, John Ludwig, presented at the meeting. Sincere thanks to Jessie Manny for her generous donation to the recent street stall in Maclean.
Secretary Rhonda Shaw reported on the zone conference held recently at Murwillumbah where Maclean and Tweed Heads were praised for their fundraising efforts over the last ten years.
The trolley organiser stressed the importance of finding a replacement helper if a rostered member is unable to work on their allotted day.
A sausage sizzle is to be held outside Home Hardware in Maclean on Saturday June 24 starting at 8.30am. There will also be a trading table and members are asked to supply cakes, slices and other items to stock it.
The meeting agreed to purchase a transport monitor which goes with patients being moved around the hospital so their condition can be constantly monitored.
Rita still needs more recipes for the planned cookbook.
The next fund raising event is a fashion parade of pre-loved clothing on Friday May 26 at the community centre in Treelands Drive, Yamba. The starting time is 2pm and the cost is still only $5. There will be lucky door prizes, raffle tickets and the clothes will be available for purchase at bargain prices. Members are asked to bring along goodies for afternoon tea.
The next meeting will be on Monday June 19 at 2pm in the conference room of community health at Maclean District Hospital. New members are welcome.
