Lawrence says thanks

Ed, Some weeks ago, Lawrence Historical Society appealed to the community for assistance, either materials, or financial, to help with the completion of the new shed. We were overwhelmed with the generosity and support of individuals and organisations, including Maclean Bowling Club and Lawrence Over Fifties Club; and recently Lawrence community fundraising donated $1,500 to help the project. On behalf of the Lawrence Historical Society, I would like to thank all those community members who have supported this important project. Last week, volunteers from the Lawrence Historical Society held our annual fundraising garage sale. Community support was again overwhelming, raising funds for the upkeep of the museum. Lawrence Historical Society owns the Lawrence Museum building and does not receive state or local government funding. The construction of the new shed has also been without any state government assistance and is entirely due to community support and volunteer help. The completed project will be total community project and offer an amazing space to preserve and display our local history. Roz Jones, vice president
