Joseph & His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

Grafton’s Criterion Theatre is gearing up for their next production – Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice’s “Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat” which starts on May 16.

“JOSEPH” was originally planned for 2020, but after months of rehearsal by Director Jacinta Bentley it had to be cancelled at the last minute due to COVID.  Well, JOSEPH is back, and promising to be a great show.

Once again, the cast is a great mixture of youth and experience, with ages ranging from 7 to 83yo. The Production team of Fran McHugh, Jenny Worrell and Dan Fahey are full of praise for the talent and dedication of the cast, and every rehearsal is a delight.

Sue Mackey’s colourful set has been revived, costumes are almost done (thankyou Anne Newbold), singing and dancing (at the same time!) is looking and sounding great, and the band is having fun as well.

As is the tradition at the Criterion, seating is at tables and it’s BYO drinks and nibbles. You can buy a single ticket or a whole table by going online to HUMANITIX, or at Buckley’s Music in Prince Street, Grafton.  Ticket prices are $35 adults, $30 concession and $15 for children.

This wonderful story is promising to be a big hit, and there’s only 5 shows, so get in early to avoid disappointment.

JOSEPH runs from May 16th to 19th, with 3 evening shows and 2 matineés.
