John Kelly Triples at Maclean

There were three matches of Club Championship mixed pairs played last Sunday morning. No Championships last Saturday as the ‘John Kelly Memorial’ Triples was held. The ‘John Kelly’ Triples was a good day with 24 teams participating in warm sunny conditions on well running greens. Accolades were given to the memory of John Kelly a great supporter of bowls on the river during his life. There are no Club Championships scheduled for this weekend as we have events both days and 11 of our bowlers have been selected in the District sides to travel to Kingscliff Club on Sunday to battle for the Schipp Shield and Schipp Cup. A list of players chosen are shown in the results section. The next trip away for Terry’s travelling bowlers is on Thursday October 22 to Tugun on the Gold Coast. The list on the board is filling fast. Bus departs our club at 7.30am on the day. As mentioned we have a weekend visit from Pottsville men bowlers this Saturday & Sunday. A list is on the board for both Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning matches and more names are needed to match them. Come on you travelling bowlers, on Sunday we have bowlers away on rep duties so others are needed to replace these. Bowlers throughout our District, take note, we have lists up on the board for our remaining two tournaments for this year. Namely, the ‘Mareeba Aged Care’ Mixed Mufti Triples on Saturday October 30 and our ‘XXXX Gold’ Classic 2-bowl triples on Saturday November 21.
