Independent Chair appointed to Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee

Clarence Valley Council has appointed Neville Parsons as the Chair of the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee for the term of the Council.

Council approved the Regional Australia Bank director’s appointment to the role at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 22 February.
Clarence Valley Council Mayor Ian Tiley said the committee Chair played an important role in local government.

“The Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee provides Council with independent oversight, objective assurance and monitoring of Council’s audit processes, reporting, risk management and performance improvement activities, as well as compliance of and with Council’s policies and procedures,” Cr Tiley said.

“Mr Parsons brings to the role extensive experience in strategic planning, corporate governance, management and financial accounting, credit union and community development, risk management as well as legal and compliance.”

Cr Peter Johnstone has been appointed as the observer to the Audit, Risk, and Improvement Committee for the term of the council, with applications for potential independent committee members currently open.
