Paul Maclean, by the looks of his cheesy grin was more than pleased to win with his very good score of 40 points on countback from Brian Kay. Image: Contributed

The September 17 event was an individual Stableford competition played in superb conditions. The fairways presented a lot of run and the greens true and fast, resulting in some very good scores being posted. A good field of starters made the most of the very pleasant conditions.

The day was sponsored by our own Iluka Golf Club, Life Member, Colin Kempshall, who after all these years is still contributing to the Club and is a well revered and respected figure in our Club. Well done and thank you to Colin Kempshall and his family.

The winner was Paul Maclean with 40 points on a c/b from Brian Kay also on 40pts.

NTP’s: 1/ 10 was Jack Urquhart, 6 / 15 was Paul Mitchell and on 8 / 17 was John Lloyd with a great shot that we thought was going in for the big prize but just fell short.

The Roy Ellery 3rd Shot on 3 / 12 went to sponsor for the day, Colin Kempshall.

The Ball Rundown went to 11 players with 35 points or better.

The Barry Robbie Mars Bar & Porcelain Mug went Jeoff Turner, who experienced a round of misadventure amongst the trees. On one particularly challenging lie, hard up against a tree on the 3rd hole, he had to toe poke the ball out with the end of his putter, which he did very successfully and then he masterfully chipped on and one putted for a win. But as the round progressed our luckless Jeoffery, lost the battle with the trees and posted a very modest score which he soon deleted from his memory bank.

It was a great fun day enjoyed by all.

Jeoffery Turner was over the moon to get rewarded with the Barry Robbie Mars Bar & Porcelain Mug for having such an unrewarding and challenging day on the golf course. He elected not to go into great detail of all the misadventures and suffered in silence. Image: Contributed
