Iluka Ladies Golf

Welcome to the 2016 year of golf, it was great to see Pattie Bond, Chris Cavallo, Gwen Finlayson and Jan Ellery back on the course, these ladies all spent a lot of last year out injured. On Wednesday, February 3 the 9 and 18 hole lady golfers joined up to play a 9 hole Stableford competition. There was a field of 18 ladies and I was happy to be the sponsor for the day. Our winner after a count back with 17 points was Tricia Freeman with the runner up also with 17 points Pam Ravet. There was a bit of a hiccup with the nearest to the pin, so we had a draw of the cards and Rhonda Frazer and Chris Cavallo where the lucky ladies to win a ball each. The ball rundown went to 14 points and Chris Kembrey, Faye McClymont, Lynn Robertson, Merrilyn Whitton, Marie Boyce and Ann Dean all won a ball. Dallas’s encouragement award went to Cheryl Kelly and Gwen Finlayson and thanks Dallas for you continued support. Cheryl Kelly was the winner of the raffle. February 17 will be another 9 hole event, with our first 18 hole event on 24th being an American Foursome, sponsored by Bettie Opie and Marie Boyce. For the ladies that played in the summer competition the winner was Cheryl Kelly and the runner up Di Hadlow, these ladies are both 9 hole players so it great to see that we have new players taking the lead. A big thank you to Ann Dean and Lynn Robertson for running the competition and ladies golf, Sandra Morrow and Sue Burgess for sponsoring it. A date for the lady golfers in the area to put on their calendar is the Maclean Hospital Charity Day, which this year will be held on March 9 at Iluka. The Iluka and Yamba Lady Golfers join together for this great day of golf for our local hospital. Our sponsors are Faye and Jim McClymont and the Iluka Men’s Veterans. So don’t miss out on this great day of golf. Patricia Munro
