Iluka fishers Aid for Scouts

On Sunday October 3, the Iluka Fishing club presented the local scout and cub group with a first aid kit. Scout master Kevin Gooding was very pleased and said it would be very useful and versatile when they went on hikes or camps.

President of the Iluka Fishing Club Peter Bowling said this was another donation to a local community group. Since 2010, the club had been giving donations to community service groups which include Marine Rescue, Westpac Helicopter and Rural Fire Service. In addition, during that time, the club had provided community facilities including cleaning tables at the local boat ramp in Spenser Street, tables under the shelter at the oval, a garden shed at the Primary School, donations to Meals on Wheels and garden beds for the Community Garden. The fishing club runs a seafood raffle at the local monthly markets, please let them know of any worthy local causes that they could support.

During the school term, the five scouts and seven cubs meet at the local Iluka Scout Hall at the boat ramp on Tuesday night at 6.30pm. Both groups participate in the same activities which are organised at different levels for the age groups. Last term, the scouts and cubs enjoyed a fun camp at Woody Head camp grounds.

New participants boys or girls are very welcome to come along on Tuesday evenings. In particular, Kevin is always looking for new leaders. Please contact him if you are at all interested in this really worthwhile activity.
