After many weeks of training and competing against some skilled opponents, Iluka Public School girls netball team this week realised a long held dream to become the winners of the North Coast Division of the PSSA Netball competition. Their win against Pottsville Public School in the sixth round of the competition has surpassed previous school results and they now ready themselves to represent the North Coast Division and compete in Sydney against other state areas. This outstanding achievement is a result of hard work, determination and skill and rewards a team ethos of great sportsmanship and collaboration. Principal Mr Bradmore and teacher-coach Mrs Cunningham are obviously very proud of the team and believe the girls’ never say die attitude has helped them win some very tough games across six rounds The girls will compete in Sydney on Monday 14 September and for some, it will be their first time in the city, adding to the excitement and importance of the occasion. The entire Iluka Public School community wishes our girls the best of luck and hopes that for these Year 6 girls, it will be a memorable part of their final year of primary schooling. The school also extends its gratitude to the girls families for their ongoing support on and off the court, particularly Josh and Sue Crompton for all their assistance with transportation. This achievement is enormous for a small school and has certainly created an excited buzz among staff, students and families. Go Iluka! Michelle Adey
