Cats and kittens for adoption this week:

We get all cats vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. We have adopted out well over 1200 cats over the last 12 years and only a very very small percentage having developed any illness as a result of the change in environment but now we are being extremely careful. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive.

Kie came to us with her mother and four siblings early in 2017. Her mother was found on a vacant property with no form of identification and no one knowing where she came from so we called her Kinki as she had a kink in her tail and some of the offspring do too. Kie is a beautiful tabby and white teenager who has come from a lovely family as Kinki her mum is so very affectionate and she has taught all her babies to be too. She is extremely loving, gentle, active, playful young cat who has been desexed, vaccinated and micro-chipped ready for her new home as are her whole family.

Carlos is a member of the C-team who were rescued in Maclean by a foster carer over a number of days at the end of October 2016, mum named Cara by the foster carer’s son was found in a garage as the owner was packing to move out. She had a small dog and she worried whether he might have a go at Cara and her family of very young kittens. Carlos has unusual markings almost as he has some Turkish Van in him; he is also slender like an oriental. They are affectionate and love being stroked but not so keen about being carried around. They are desexed, immunised, regularly treated for parasites and chipped. They are now ready for their new homes.

Nora is a member of the N-Team. In beginning of September 2017, a beautiful cat called Noelene was bought in as her owner had abandoned her when they moved. On October 2 she gave birth to six beautiful kittens. When Noelene became sick we had to hand feed her babies until she recovered then she took back the role of Mum happily. The babies as a result are extremely affectionate, well socialised, playful, inquisitive mischievous loving young cats and all but Nora and her Mum have already found loving forever homes. Both these young ladies have been desexed, microchipped, regularly treated for parasites and immunised.

Dogs for adoption for this week:

We get all dogs vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive. All dogs are also tested to make sure that they do not have heart worm. We have rescued and adopted out well over 1300 dogs over the last 12 years.

When young Ziva came to us she had obviously just had pups as she was full of milk. The farmer said that he did not know where the pups were hidden and for the first few days she just cried. He said he had to get rid of her as she was chasing his cattle. We looked and looked and asked everyone we knew in the area about her pups but we could not find them anywhere. One of my volunteers called her Ziva and it stuck. She is a beautiful female who has now been chipped vaccinated heart worm tested and desexed and ready for her new home. She is a very gentle girl who would be great for an active family or as a companion. She is intelligent so would respond well to training.

Lexie came all the way from Swan Hill. Her owner was moving and could not take her with them as they moving to the city from regional Victoria, Swan Hill. They tried to rehome her as she is only young and with a very sweet nature. Lexie gets on well with other dogs of all types. She is a very smart athletic dog so would be excellent at agility and or obedience, scent work, tracking etc. She needs to be in a household where someone is around to be with most of the day. She is about 8 months old so is at the ideal time to train. Like all our animals she has been desexed, immunised, wormed, de-flead and micro-chipped

Huey is a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog cross like most herding dogs he wants to be a part of the family thus your pack. He prefers not to be left outside when his pack is inside. He can be a little shy of strangers but that does not last long as he is extremely affectionate, sookie, loyal and loving. He is an extremely smart dog and like all dogs needs to be exercised daily. Due to his intelligence he should do well at obedience RallyO, herding, scenting and tracking or just lazing around with you. He is a very loving and affectionate dog so is good with kids especially those who are school age. He would make a wonderful family or companion dog. He is desexed immunised microchipped and have had regular parasite and flea treatments.
