Greens select state election candidate for Clarence

Dr Greg Clancy, Deputy Mayor of Clarence Valley Council and retired ecologist will be the Greens’ candidate in the Clarence electorate for the March 2023 State election.

Dr Clancy is a second term councillor with Clarence Valley Council and was the Greens’ candidate for Clarence in the 2019 State election. He stated “with the retirement of the sitting National Party candidate, the time is right for a change in party representation in this seat.”

Dr Clancy identified the Greens’ main campaign issues as: climate change, floodplain development, koala protection, protecting our catchments from mining, waste management and greater support for local councils.

Dr Clancy said: “I am dismayed that the current Coalition Government has identified North Casino as a suitable site for a toxic waste-to-energy incinerator, close to schools, houses and rural lands which grow our food. This issue is top of my agenda.”

Dr Clancy said planed on attending last Saturday’s rally protesting this proposal.
