The members of the Mighty Clarence Toastmasters were invited to a special contest in Yamba last weekend where James took a 1st place in Table Topics. Table Topics is a section, where speakers have no time to prepare a speech, you have to think fast and speak “off the cuff”. James will be heading to Tamworth for the next level of competition. James also took a 3rd in the Humorous Speech contest. Watching experienced speakers perform inspires and entertains. In our last meeting the Mighty Clarence Toastmasters prepared a special event in celebration of our 500th meeting. Our debate was about whether it is acceptable to discipline school aged children with physical punishment. The debate became heated and emotional with the winner of the debate being the team against physical punishment. The Mighty Clarence Toastmasters gather every first and third Wednesday of the month at South Grafton Ex-Servicemen’s Club at 6.30pm. Visitors are always welcome.
