Grafton Services swimmers review their past year

Because of the epidemic, our club has not been able to swim since August 10, hence the lack of news over the past few weeks.

On Tuesday September 21, club members gathered to hold the annual general meeting which had been postponed since August 17.

Our long-standing President, Stephen Donnelly, decided it was time for a break and did not seek re-election.

In his report for the 2020/2021 period Steve mentioned the impact that Covid had made to our Club’s activities with three designated carnivals having to be cancelled.

Steve also thanked other committee members for their help during the year and made a special mention regarding Richard Sear, who has been the summer captain for more years than we care to mention and who was also not seeking re election this year.

Sponsors who earned our thanks were Trevor Coleman at Wykes Tyrepower, Terry and Sandra Brien at T & S Classic Trophies and Nathan Whiteside on behalf of the GDSC and the board for continued financial support.

A duty officer from the GDSC took the chair for the election of office bearers and the results were:

President – Terry Marsh

Vice President – Steve Donnelly

Secretary – Toni Ensbey

Assistant secretary – Jill Enks

Treasurer – Jill Enks

Assistant treasurer – Doug Ensbey

Publicity officer – Toni Ensbey

Summer Captain – David Moon; Vice Captain – Doug Ensbey

Winter Captain – Damien O’Mahony; Vice Captain – Gary Dixon

The Club’s summer swimming season will commence after the long weekend in October (if there are no lockdowns), so members are reminded that $15 membership fees are now due.

In closing I would like to express my thanks to the Clarence Valley Independent for publishing our swimming club news each week – it is surprising the amount of feedback that we receive from the public.
