Grafton Senior Citizens

Grafton Senior Citizens held their December general meeting, with an attendance of 51 members, 10 apologies. Birthday wishes to those celebrating during month, & best wishes to anyone on sick list. Helen Wood, from Clarence Women’s Refuge, accepted a cheque for $2,800 from seniors member, Mary Randall, for monies raised on trading table & competitions. Guest speaker was Kate, from Department of Fair Trading. General business included: Trading table held at meeting. Christmas luncheon very successful, with good meal, great entertainment, & delightful work by school children serving meals. Special thanks to Ann Moran & sister for making Christmas pudding. Member of year was announced as Helen Cashel, & as she was not at luncheon, plaque & certificate presented at meeting. New members are welcome to join group, & anyone over age 50 may apply. Enquiries can be made with members at Community Centre, Duke St, any Thursday, or come along to a meeting on 2nd Tuesday of month. With 2015 trips complete, first trip for next year, a day to Dorrigo, including historical museum, on Friday, 26 February, has been on sale a few weeks, & still has spare seats. The extended tour, including Thunderbolts Way, Port Stephens, & Newcastle, 7 days from August 19, has been on sale a few weeks, & is already fully booked, with 47. Names will still be taken for a waiting list. A 3 day tour to Tamworth for the Country Music Festival & Awards in January, is planned; enquiries to Sandra on number below. If interested in any trips, make your bookings & payments any Thursday, at Seniors rooms, Community Centre, or with Sandra, 6642 7720, or Dot, 6642 7279. If you can’t make it on this day, contact one of organisers, & special arrangements can be made. Members are reminded that if phone booking made, payment, or a deposit, should be made in 7 days. There is also a 7 day rule for cancellations, with refunds only guaranteed if 7 days notice given. Regular meeting competition winners were: M. Rodgers; V. Meyer; R. Turner; C. Doggett; H. Cashel; P. Delaforce. Mention was made that some committee, including President & Secretary, are not standing for re-election at AGM on March 8 & anyone wishing to nominate for a position should obtain a form from committee. President wished all members a merry Christmas, & thanked all committee for a good year. One of members thanked committee for all their hard work, & wished them a Merry Christmas.
