Grafton Probus

Forty-six Members attended Grafton Probus’ 400th meeting at South Grafton Bowling Club on June 20. They were joined by special guests Maureen and Ken Muller from Maclean Probus and Bev Mansfield from Yamba Probus.

Guests enjoyed a two-course meal before master of ceremonies, Bill Greenlees, introduced Richard White, who gave the occasional address. Dick is a Life Member of our club and entertained us with his experiences in the club as it changed from males only to one where we now have more women than men.

Many thanks to the members of ETC Training Group, who worked in the kitchen and served the meals.

June’s monthly luncheon was held in conjunction with a day trip to ‘Remember When’ at Eatonsville. After a Devonshire tea we viewed the exhibits displayed across the four areas of the site. We then had a tour around the areas on the Clarence River above Grafton. Some members were able enlighten us about life in the areas during the 40s and 50s and those new to the valley were awed by previous flood levels. The Copmanhurst Hotel was the venue for a delicious lunch.

The Jacaranda Hotel is the venue for lunch on July 2. Our monthly meeting will be at 10am on July 18 at South Grafton Ex Services Club.  Retirees, who are interested in joining the club for Friendship, Fellowship and Fun, are invited to join us as guests.
