Grafton men’s golf

There was plenty of action in last Saturday’s Muddy & Studdy 18 hole Stableford with almost 120 starters taking part. The best score of the day was put together by David Gilbert (21) with 42 points, 22 around the front and 20 around the back, which included a bogie on the 13th made up by a 4 pointer of the 15th.  The ultra consistent Tim Bartlett (6) was once again dominant taking out A Grade with 41 points. Tim’s score no doubt enhanced by a Eagle on the par 5 18th hole which enabled him to record a outstanding back 9 of 24 points. Apart from his Eagle, the remaining holes on the back consisted of 9 pars and one birdie, which resulted in a 3 under par 33 hits for the 9. He was a little more steady around the front with 17, but great golf just the same. Runner-up in A Grade was John Dahl (8) with 37, who also is a regular in the winners list. Also with 41 points was John Dick (25) who for his effort was awarded the win in D Grade, the feature of his round was the 23 around the back 9.  It is hard to keep the Dahl name out of the results with “young” Bill Dahl (30) claiming the D Grade runner-up spot with a very healthy 40 points against his name.  Another player, Steve Dunn (18) also recorded 40 points and as a result was named as the C Grade winner from Matt Davidson (17) with 37.  Things were a little closer in B Grade with a countback required to sort out the winners with both Darron King (13) and Brendan Breitnauer (15) finishing on 39. Barron eventually named as the winner of the grade. Winner of the pro-pin was Brad Deece (9), his tee shot missing the cup by just 183cm. Pro balls went down to 34 on a countback. Regular Saturday players should note an important change to our golf programme scheduled for Saturday August 25. The event will remain as a four man team competition however the event will not be a Texas Scramble with long time sponsor Ken Casson Motors providing the trophies. The Texas Scramble format was only introduced to our programme a few weeks ago, and proved to be extremely popular by those taking part. Therefore to guarantee a place in the field it would be advisable to put your nominations in sooner rather than later to ensure your preferred time slot.
