Grafton Club and Grade Championships on this weekend
This coming weekend the feature event of our entire annual golf programme will commence, that being the 2018 Club and Grade Championships scheduled to be held over four rounds, over the next two weekends. Sponsoring the entire four round series will be the Greg Harvison Building & Design, together with Jacaranda Coaches (David & Leanne Morgan), with individual sponsors for each round.
Sponsoring this Saturday’s first round will be Craig Woods from Craig Woods Plumbing, who together with Greg Harvison and the Morgans has been associated with the Championships for many years.
Sponsoring Sunday’s second round is the Golf Club itself. Favourite for this year’s Championship would have to be Matthew Worthing, who is not only the defending Champion, but has received the Championship title on 12 previous occasions. However he may not have it all his own way, with previous Champions Matt McKee and Greg Harvison also red hot chances to once again secure the Championships. No doubt there will also be a strong challenge from a future champion 15 year old Willow Harris who can match it with the best.
Apart from the overall Club Championships the various grade titles will also be hotly contested. The defending grade Champions from 2017 include Tony Gallagher in A Reserve. Defending G Grade is Trent Dickson who had to win his title the hard way in a playoff. Bill Dudgeon will defend his C Grade title with John Dougherty attempting to retain his D Grade Championship. The third and fourth rounds of Championships will be held on the following weekend with Bank of Queensland, through Peter Gibbons, providing the trophies on Saturday with the Golf Club supplying Sunday’s trophies.
