Grafton greyhounds bloom during jacaranda

A total of 93 greyhounds jumped from the boxes during the Grafton Greyhound Racing Club’s twilight race meeting on November 6, with several competitors striving for the opportunity to secure a box in the GRNSW Jacaranda Maiden Final over 450m, and the GRNSW 5th Grade Series Final over 450m, to be run during the club’s next race meeting on November 13

All Lies Ahead, Blaze A Trail, Bella Sensation and Russell’s Duck were the first greyhounds to qualify for the GRNSW Jacaranda Maiden Final after running in the top four in Race 1, the GRNSW Jacaranda Maiden Heat 1 over 450m.

Over Thinking, Marinus, Jimary Georgia and Whiskey Dutton completed the final field after the running of Race 2, the GRNSW Jacaranda Maiden Heat 2 over 450m.

A strong field featuring Cash Master, Shanghai Gold, Kaniva Swifty, Magic Ale, Jimary Montana, Cashed Up Ashton, Gypsy Joker and Go Bears will head to the boxes for the GRNSW 5th Grade Series Final over 450m after qualifying in their respective heats.

Punters were also excited to see popular local dog Orara Dan, trained at Coutts Crossing by Gary Smith return to form during the night.

Lining up against a strong field, including the inaugural winner of The Thunderbolt Integrity Mate, in Race 7, the Ladbroke It! over 450m, Orara Dan showed a superb turn of foot and flew out of box 7 to resume the early lead before powering to the line to win in a smart time of 25.32 seconds.

The short priced favourite Louis Rumble finished second, less than a length away, while Boys Light Up finished third.
