Grafton Aero Club chips in for sick kids

Capture   The Grafton Aero Club has donated funds it raised at its Wings and Wheels event – held in August at the South Grafton Aerodrome – to Grafton Base Hospital’s children’s ward. Patrons of the free event were asked to make a gold coin donation to assist the children’s ward to purchase equipment. The club’s secretary, Peter Clement, said David Lorenzo’s model train display was a big hit. “David held his official opening that day and also donated $150 to the fundraising effort,” Mr Clement said. “David regularly collects donations from people coming to see the model trains and donates to local charities, too.” Mr Clement said about $700 was raised on the day and that his club made an additional donation to bring the total to $1,000. The children’s ward nurse unit manager, Lissa Morgan, said the hospital was very grateful to receive the donation, which she said will go towards purchasing a new blood pressure machine for the ward.
