Tuesday 6th of June the Iluka Vets played their 4th round of the Vets Club Champs in conjunction with the June Monthly Medal. Best of the field was Kevin Leader with a great round of 61 nett. Phil Moye with a fine round of 66 nett took out Division 1 Medal and best Division 1 nett for the day followed by Barry Brims with 68. Division 2 Medal winner went to Phil Blackwell with 67 with Jim Wride having to settle for 2nd place with 66 nett as Jim has previously won a Medal this year. Ball run down went to 70 nett. NTP’S – 1/10 Les Reese 6/15 Les Reese 8/17 Gordon Farrell. Raffle Winner – Noel Chambers. Draw of the Cards – Roy Ellery and Laurie Honey. Barry Robbie Mars Bar Award went to Jeffery Dorrell. Friday’s Da$h 4 Ca$h 9 Hole Open Medley Stableford saw 26 players contend for the $130.00 of Club Vouchers on offer with money going all the way to 17 points. A Simpson, M Dobney, K Cooper, L Simpson, J Edwards and G Malley all collected $20.00 for their efforts with M Curtis claiming $10.00 for last money on 17 points. The long weekend brought the annual FISHO’S Weekend of Golf which was unfortunate with some wet weather trying hard to put a dampener on proceedings but a great weekend was had by all despite the wet. A big thank you to the many, many  people involved in the sponsorship and organizing of the weekend. There was some amazing prizes, raffles and the big seafood cook up, as always, proved to be a big hit. More than half the field managed to finish on the Saturday with the best of the day going to Kevin Leader continuing his purple patch over the last week or two with 38 points. Great golf in very tough conditions followed by Scott Young with 35 points on a count back. Lisbeth Edwards took out the ladies best with 28 points followed by Desley Dobney with 27 points. Scratch winners were Alan Simpson and Patricia Hodda. Ball run down went to 26 points. NTP’S – Men – 1/10 Ken Mount 6/15 Gordon Farrell 8/17 Alan Simpson. NTP’S – Ladies – 1/10 June McFadden 6/15 xxxx 8/17 Kaye Mills. Long Drives went to Lyn Simpson, Desley Dobney, Jesse Collins and Dave Boyle. Accuracy Drives went to Kaye Mills and Jim Hurley. The Bradman’s Award went to Jim Pritchard. Sunday’s golf started out on the fine side but the heavens soon opened up with players retreating back to the club for shelter. All prizes were distributed through random draw of the cards with many teams taking home some fantastic prizes, meat and seafood trays.  Once again a big thank you to John Caldwell, Dave Boyle, Jenny Burton and all Sponsors and Fishing Associates for all your hard work and sponsorship to make for a great weekend of golf and entertainment.
