Well the Grafton Chiropractic Centre Westlawn Golf Club Championships are over for another year, congratulations to all the winners and there is always next year for the rest of us. A Grade winner and Club Champion is Jason Casserly with a 3 round total of 111 nett 3 strokes ahead of Nathan Blanch on 114, B Grade winner was Keith Ellem with 121 nett 6 strokes ahead of club Captain Peter Curd on 127, C Grade went down to the wire with Joe Armstrong and Charlie Husking both finishing with a 131 nett so they had a sudden death play-off with Joe coming out on top on the 1st hole when Charlie misread the green and 3 putted, it was bad luck for Charlie as he was placed 1st or 2nd in all 3 individual rounds of the Championships but that is what golf is all about, it is not over until the fat Lady sinks the putt. The 1st Round of the Jacaranda Coaches Match Play Championships will be next Sunday with A Grade: J Casserly v Bye; N Blanch v P McFarlane; D Morgan v N Winters and P Taaffe v T Ord. B Grade: K Ellem v J Blanch; P Curd v S Carnley; R Tangye v N Reeves and J Ellis v P Johnson. C Grade: J Armstrong v A Schubert; C Husking v A Atkinson; G Reynolds v P Chessell and G Mallison v J Corrigan. There will be specific time slots for the Match Play pairing so please see Saturdays sports round-up or check the draw at the GDSC. There were a couple of Waterboys from Sunday but I forget to get their names so I will chase them up next Sunday. I was going to mention that Bob McFarlane’s drive on the 2nd only went about 5cm from his Tee but I always write about my group so instead I would like to apologise to Charlie Husking’s grand children for not mentioning that Charlie won or was runner-up in C Grade for the last 3 weeks, sorry about that Charlie. Next week is a Single Stableford event in conjunction with the 1st Round of the Jacaranda Coaches Match Play Championships. Starters will be G Jackson and TBA with G Mallison and TBA to handle the results. Sunday June 12 will be a Single Stableford event in conjunction with the annual Fairfield RSL Social Golf Club visit.
