G.D.S.C celebrate Chris Bennett

Last Saturday November 5 we remembered one of the real ‘characters’ of our club from past years, with the staging of our annual Chris Bennett Triples Carnival.

Chris loved nothing better than a game of bowls and a beer with his mates, and it is fitting that we remember him each year in this way.

The carnival was once again sponcored by Chrises’ brother Joe Bennett of ‘Penrith Air’ in Sydney, who unfortunately was unable to make the trip to be with us this year, but we thank him very much for his continued support of this carnival in memory of Chris.

After three games, in which the second game was shortened from sixteen to fourteen ends due to a weather interuption, the five teams to go home with cash in their pockets were as follows:

5th place – Paul Sutton, Gary Ahrens & Gary Harrison (G.D.S.C.).

4th place – Barry Elder, Ken Ainsworth & Ray Toovey (G.D.S.C.).

3rd place – Des Clarke, Brian Napper & Tony Lickiss (G.D.S.C.).

2nd place – Neil Holt, Alan Gough & Ray (Rocket) Grant (G.D.S.C.).

1st place – G. Fuller, Kevin Blanch & J. Brooks (Woolgoolga).

Congratulations to all the place getters, and inparticular our winners G. Fuller, Kevin Blanch & J. Brooks, as this is their third consecutive victory in this tournament. Well done again guys and we hope to see you all next year.
