Free workshops for parents and supervisors to help learners become safer drivers
Roads and Maritime Services is urging parents and supervisors to attend a free workshop on how to provide the most effective practice sessions for learner drivers.
The Roads and Maritime ‘Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers’ workshop will be held at Byron Bay Services Club on Wednesday April 6 at 5:30pm.
“Parents and supervisors play a pivotal role in shaping young people’s driving habits. This course has been developed to help them do this job with confidence so they can help their learner drivers be safe and confident on the road,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.
The two hour workshops include information about license conditions for learner and P plate drivers, tips for using the learner driver log book and the importance of providing constructive feedback.
“The course also reinforces the important role families play in providing ongoing support for young motorists in their early years of driving.
“Parents and supervisors who have attended the course found it boosted their confidence and helped them better plan driving lessons, while also giving them the opportunity to share their experiences with other parents and supervisors.”
