Fishing co-ops v offshore factory ships

Ed, Will it be the end of of our fishing industry in the Clarence and the State of NSW? Deregulation has caused the demise of the Milk Boards under the Howard /Costello government now this government is allowing dairy produce, milk/cheese, to be imported into Australia. If they deregulate the fishing industry and close down the fishing co-ops it will be the end of the small family fishing business with only the large offshore companies with their modern refrigeration ships who will deliver straight to the main city markets. The current negotiated trade deals are proving to be detrimental to Australian industry. For example, there is a flood of cheap steel coming from China which has nearly closed all of our steel mills. Dairy products being imported from overseas are breaking the dairy farmers and the list goes on. We the voters haven’t been told the details of these trade deals. Charles Lincoln, Gulmarrad
