First FoGG morning of 2023 with author and editor Claire Aman

The monthly mornings hosted by the Friends of Grafton Gallery publicise the benefits of membership, which helps support the Grafton Regional Gallery and the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award through subscriptions and special functions which are part of the FoGG annual program of events.

Local author and editor, Claire Aman will be the guest speaker at the Friends of Grafton Gallery’s first morning for 2023 on Wednesday February 15, from 10am for 10.30am

Claire’s life has been powered by imagination and discovery. Spending her early life in Melbourne, she has lived in the Clarence Valley for over three decades.

A motorcyclist and sailor, she has travelled widely, always with a notebook. Her short story collection Bird Country was published in 2017. In 2018 she and Erin Brady started The Long Way Home, a non-profit creative writing collective. Each year a collection of entries is published from the annual Long Way Home writing competition, including work from primary and high school students and adults. Since its inception the collective has helped local people to discover their voice through storytelling and given printed voice to brave, authentic stories responding to life in the Clarence Valley through the window of personal endeavour, culture, history and landscape.

Be seen at Grafton Gallery on Wednesday February 15, purchase your refreshments from Rubony’s café, chat with Claire about her amazing story and meet members of FoGG.  There is no charge for the morning but bookings through Eventbrite are essential.
