Fire destroys Waterview Heights home

A residence at Waterview Heights, 12km west of Grafton, was destroyed by a fire last week.

Around 1:30pm on Thursday, February 1, emergency services responded to reports of a house fire on Hampton Road.

Upon arrival at the scene, crews from Grafton Fire and Rescue 306 Station and South Grafton Fire and Rescue 307 Station, along with members of the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Southampton brigade and the NSW Clarence Valley RFS District saw thick smoke billowing from a large brick structure.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and officers attached to the Coffs/Clarence Police District also attended the scene.

Despite the efforts of firefighters, the property could not be saved.

It is alleged the property owner returned home to find her residence ablaze.

She was able to safely remove her dog from the house before the fire spread.

The dog was later taken to a vet to receive medical treatment and was monitored overnight before being reunited with her owner.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
