The summer sunshine shone as brightly as the enthusiasm of close to 30 participants who attended the Valley and Rivers Showjumping ‘February Weekend of Showjumping’ earlier this month.
Held at the Grafton Showground on February 3 and 4, the event included a training session and competition which featured 90 rounds of showjumping between 50cm and 1.20cm for riders and their mounts.
Secretary of Valley and Rivers Showjumping Louise Light told the Clarence Valley Independent it was great to welcome a number of new competitors alongside regular entrants into the ring, adding it was a blessing the event was able to proceed as the mercury climbed into the mid-thirties on both days.
“It was a good turnout, and all of the riders jumped really well,” she said.
“It’s early in the year, and we’re still seeing our numbers grow as people return to competitions again.”
Ms Light has previously expressed her happiness at seeing the sport of showjumping continue to gain a strong following within the Clarence Valley and beyond and said events like the February Weekend of Showjumping present Valley and Rivers Showjumping with opportunities to showcase it locally.
Valley and Rivers Showjumping will host a March Weekend of Showjumping on March 16 and 17.
Further information about the event, including entry details, will be published in an upcoming edition of the Clarence Valley Independent.
