Applications for the 2017 Yulgilbar Fellowship are closing soon, with the deadline of 4pm Monday, July 31, approaching fast. Clarence Valley artists and creatives are encouraged to apply for this travelling fellowship, open for travel overseas and nationally. Supported and initiated by the Yulgilbar Foundation and the Grafton Regional Gallery, the Yulgilbar Fellowship offers Clarence Valley artists and/or artist groups funding of up to $11,000 including GST to travel and develop their professional practice. This can include travel opportunities to overseas biennales, arts festivals, specialised conferences, museums and galleries. As part of the application process artists are asked to consider carefully how this fellowship can help them in their professional development as artists. Projects and travel as part of the Yulgilbar Fellowship can take place from early September this year and must be completed by June 30, 2018. Grafton Regional Gallery director, Jude McBean, said the Yulgilbar Fellowship offered a tremendous opportunity for artists of the Clarence Valley. “This fellowship is an incredible chance for Clarence Valley artists to travel and develop their practices as creative professionals,” she said. “The funding is such that it allows for overseas travel, and artists can potentially go to incredible places in the world where they can learn new skills, participate in biennales or conferences and develop professionally. I really encourage artists to consider applying.” Application forms and further information about the Yulgilbar Fellowship are available by contacting the Grafton Regional Gallery. Yulgilbar Fellowship applications close 4pm Monday, July 31, 2017.
